Job Description:

The successful candidate will work with Dr. Simmons and research assistants on projects investigating language development from infancy to childhood using eye-tracking measures and EEG. The candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of these developmental studies.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Experiment design and stimulus generation
  • Infant and child recruitment
  • Participant testing including collection of EEG and eye tracking data
  • Supervision of online experiments
  • Coding of experimental sessions
  • Data management
  • Management of IRB protocols


Requirements:

Knowledge and Skills Needed:

  • BA or BS in Biology, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience or related field
  • Highly attentive to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, able to work independently & with others in a complex, demanding, and exciting research environment, and enjoys interacting with children and their parents
  • Previous experience with one or more of the following:
    • human research, particularly with infants or children
    • neuroimaging techniques (EEG, fMRI, or fNIRS)
    • eyetracking (SMI, Tobii, or Eyelink
    • experimental presentation software packages (e.g., E-Prime, Experimental Builder, PsychoPy)
    • on-line data collection platforms (e.g., Lookit)
    • statistical analysis (e.g., R, Matlab)
    • data management software (e.g., FileMakerPro, REDCap, Qualtrics)
    • image editing (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop)
