Position Purpose: Support SHS’s missions through curriculum development, faculty hiring, faculty evaluation, and training.

 

Specific Expectations for P-8 Staff: In addition to regular responsibilities, P-8 staff are expected to contribute to the broader school community and support program growth. This includes building a strong sense of community for students, promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, engaging in professional development and training opportunities, and attending required meetings and events, such as Director’s Days, Open Houses, accreditation meetings, and class overnight trips, as directed by your supervisor. All employees will be paid appropriately and according to current law.

 

Essential Functions

  • Leads, implements, and monitors instructional initiatives; supports and observes classroom teachers in both schoolwide priorities and individual professional growth.
  • Provides job-embedded instructional coaching through observation, feedback cycles, modeling, and mentoring.
  • Partners with teachers in reflective practice to analyze student work, adjust instruction, and ensure student needs are met.
  • Supports teachers in designing and implementing behavior interventions and differentiated instructional practices.
  • Provides strategic leadership to ensure vertically aligned, standards-based, and articulated curriculum across disciplines and grade levels; designs and leads faculty meetings that advance instructional coherence and student learning.
  • Leads the development and review of course outlines, scope and sequence documents, and instructional policies across disciplines; promotes intentional interdisciplinary integration within the Middle School curriculum.
  • Assists in the faculty hiring process.
  • Serves as the primary academic liaison to Middle School families regarding curriculum, and placement decisions, in collaboration with school leadership.
  • Oversees new faculty orientation in collaboration with Director of New Faculty Programs ensuring structured mentorship, acclimation, and instructional alignment for new Middle School teachers.
  • Evaluates all MS faculty in the areas of instructional practice and curricular implementation.
  • Oversees and coordinates professional development and enrichment for faculty, including June and August work weeks, ensuring alignment with strategic academic goals.
  • Works with the faculty and admin team to sustain systems and structures that support and increase the effectiveness of the school’s curriculum and programs including integration of learning management systems; promotes tech integration and evaluates tech resources.
  • Evaluates academic programs in all disciplines and develops data driven strategies for increasing achievement.
  • Leads faculty in evaluating, selecting, and ordering instructional aligned to student learning goals.
  • Manages academic reporting, including report cards, narratives, and placement decisions in collaboration with school leadership.
  • Contributes to P-8 administration needs.
  • Oversees administration and analysis of ERB testing for the Middle School and leads faculty in using data to inform instructional practice and programmatic decisions.   
  • Participates in student life responsibilities such as chaperoning trips and supporting division needs as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in education. Minimum of 5 years of experience working with Middle School students and teachers in an administrative position; experience in an independent school valued and preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google Suite (Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides) and using video conference software such as Zoom, WebEx, Microsoft Teams.
  • Fluency in reading, writing and speaking in English, as well as outstanding interpersonal skills; additional skills in Spanish are valued and preferred.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills and analytical abilities with the ability to prioritize.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a calm demeanor and peaceful confidence under pressure and in high-stress situations.
  • A clear commitment to the school's educational philosophy as articulated in the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Schools. Actively uphold and model personal and professional behavior based on it.

 

 

 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Works in an often highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
  • Work primarily in a traditional climate controlled classroom environment and intermittently in outside weather conditions, including heat and cold typical to the Mid-Peninsula in the Bay Area. May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
  • Be able to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs. and regularly travel safely and comfortably over a 63 acre campus.
  • Available and willing to work some evenings/weekends and on occasional overnight trips. Demonstrated excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Abide by school’s current safety policies (ex: wearing masks, washing hands, etc.)

Salary : $159,000 - $185,000
