Job Type: Full-Time/ In-Office (No Remote Work Available)
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.– 4:00 p.m. Upon successful completion of the six-month probationary period, employees transition to a 9/80 work schedule (7:30 a.m.– 4:30 p.m.) with every other Friday off.
Probation Period: Six months from the start date.
Employment Status: Employment with the SCDSA is at-will. Successful completion of the probationary period does not alter the at-will nature of employment.
Job Summary
The Sacramento County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association (DSA) is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and professional Administrative Assistant to support a wide range of union operations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining accurate records, coordinating with County departments, assisting union leadership, and managing multiple databases related to union membership.
The ideal candidate will be dependable, discreet, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while handling sensitive and confidential information.
This position requires regular attendance during normal business hours and may occasionally require attendance at meetings or special events outside of normal business hours.

Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of two years of clerical or administrative office experience in a related field
Desirable Skills & Attributes
- Experience managing personnel databases.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite, and QuickBooks.
- Knowledge of law enforcement organizations, labor unions, or public safety operations is preferred.
- Familiarity with legislation, labor relations, and public policy affecting law enforcement organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer membership and new hire processes
- Reconcile union dues and financial billing
- Generate mailing and email lists for union communications
- Track personnel changes and correspond with County departments
- Maintain and update membership databases
- Maintain accurate membership rosters
- Administer legal defense coverage records
- Coordinate and provide administrative support for events and special projects.
Preferred Experience
- Union administrative experience.
- Law enforcement administrative experience.
- Database management.
- Event coordination.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods.
- Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to occasionally attend off-site meetings and events.

- Vacation: Employees become eligible for vacation upon successful completion of the six-month probationary period. A prorated vacation allotment will be provided for the remainder of the calendar year in accordance with DSA policy. Beginning January 1 of each subsequent year, eligible employees receive their annual vacation allotment.
