What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at SABRE - Security Equipment Corporation?
About Us:
SABRE is a global leader in personal safety and security products, empowering individuals to live confidently. With a strong commitment to quality and innovation, SABRE’s manufacturing team is at the forefront of delivering reliable products that make a difference. We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician to support our aerosol manufacturing operations and help maintain the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
What you'll do:
The Maintenance Technician is a critical operational role responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of SABRE’s aerosol production equipment. This position focuses on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of aerosol filling lines and supporting systems. The Maintenance Technician works cross-functionally with Production, Quality, and Operations to minimize downtime, improve throughput, and ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and quality requirements associated with pressurized aerosol manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance & Reliability: Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and condition-based maintenance on aerosol production equipment, including fillers, charge heads, cappers, conveyors, pressure systems, and auxiliary equipment. Ensure all equipment operates safely and at optimal performance levels to support production targets and quality standards.
- Installation, Commissioning & Upgrades: Lead or support the installation, commissioning, and validation of new or upgraded aerosol manufacturing equipment. Assist in integrating new technologies and automation improvements to increase efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Troubleshooting and Repairs: Quickly diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiency on aerosol production lines. Identify root causes or recurring failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Collaboration and Continuous Improvement: Partner with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to improve equipment uptime, line efficiency, and changeover performance. Support kaizen, lean, and reliability improvement initiatives across the facility.
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate maintenance records, PM schedules, and repair logs in accordance with company procedures and audit requirements. Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and aerosol-specific safety standards, particularly related to pressurized and flammable systems.
- Inventory Management: Manage critical spare parts inventory, ensuring appropriate stock levels to prevent unplanned downtime. Identify obsolete, high-failure, or long-lead components and recommend stocking or redesign strategies.
- Safety Compliance: Follow and promote all safety procedures related to pressurized systems, hazardous materials, and confined space. Actively support plant safety initiatives and immediately address unsafe conditions.
- Training and Mentorship: Train operators and team members on basic equipment operation, preventive maintenance best practices, and safety requirements. Share technical knowledge to improve overall plant capability and reduce dependency on reactive maintenance.
What You’ll Bring:
- Onsite, 5days / 40hrs per week in Fenton, Missouri
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of Industrial maintenance experience, with a strong preference for experience in manufacturing or similar production environments focused on pressurized systems and automated production lines.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Familiarity with aerosol-specific machinery is critical (air/electric pumps, cylinders, charge heads, etc.) Experience with Starview machines are a plus.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to quickly diagnose and resolve complex equipment issues in a manufacturing environment.
- Certifications: Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM) or equivalent technical certifications are highly desirable.
- Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail, ensuring precision in both maintenance tasks and documentation to meet rigorous safety, quality, and operational standards.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in varying environmental conditions typical of a manufacturing facility.
