Scope of Responsibility:

The Buyer will have responsibility for procuring materials, supplies and services. Functions include but are not limited to obtaining quotes, negotiating contracts and developing/maintaining suppliers. This position will take ownership for cost, inventory levels, on-time delivery and quality.

Essential Duties:

• Processes ERP PO suggestions and purchase orders
• Analyzes material/inventory requirements and expedites or pushes out material as necessary
• Prepares, issues and reviews Request for Proposal / Quote
• Identify, select, and qualify suppliers required to meet business needs
• Resolves problems that arise, reviews reports, and interacts with other departments to resolve any situation that may need attention
• Manage suppliers with primary ownership for driving performance improvements in the areas of quotation lead time, documentation and product delivery on-time performance and quality as well as lead time and YOY savings initiatives
• Achieve annual Sabre cost savings initiatives
• Rationalization/Consolidation of Supplier Base
• Negotiate and administer Supply Agreements/Contracts with suppliers
• Utilizes the ERP/MRP system to review material requirements and inventory on hand. Maintains efficient levels of stock and material coverage for job requirements while optimizing inventory levels
• Additional duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Business or related field or combination of education and experience preferred
• 3-5 years recent purchasing in industrial manufacturing
• ASCM and/or ISM certification desired.
• Steel procurement experience a plus.
• Self-motived with strong organizational skills; high level of attention to detail;
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
• Experience with an ERP/MRP system (Epicor a plus).
• The ability to form internal and external alliances to achieve the company’s goals.
• The ability to negotiate and build relationships with suppliers.

Physical Requirements:

• Demonstrated ability to work with frequent interruptions in work flow and constantly changing priorities
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time with the ability to move throughout the office or outside manufacturing plant as needed
• Must be able to perform physical activities that require use of fingers, hands and arms, such as sitting, typing, using office equipment and reaching
• Some additional physical activities may require walking, stooping, bending, twisting and handling of materials
• Position requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual
• Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources
