SABRA Sanctuary is a nonprofit domestic violence program serving Dallas, Perry, Wilcox, Marengo, Sumter, and Greene counties in Alabama’s Black Belt. Our programs provide crisis intervention, emergency shelter, advocacy, and support services to survivors of domestic violence and their families.
We are seeking a Part-Time Financial Officer to help maintain the financial operations that support these critical community services. This role is ideal for someone who wants to use their financial or bookkeeping skills to help strengthen local victim services.
Position Summary
The Financial Officer is responsible for maintaining financial records, processing transactions, supporting payroll, and assisting with financial reporting and grant documentation. This role works closely with the Executive Director to ensure accurate financial management and compliance with nonprofit and grant requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and process financial transactions including invoices, purchases, and payments
- Maintain financial records and perform account reconciliations
- Generate financial reports such as balance sheets and income statements
- Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing
- Assist with preparation of monthly and annual financial reports
- Support financial documentation for grant-funded programs
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation
- Assist leadership with financial tracking and reporting as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience with bookkeeping or accounting support
- Proficiency with QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and maintain accurate records
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with nonprofit financial management
- Familiarity with grant-funded programs and restricted funding tracking
- Experience with payroll processing and financial reconciliation
Work Schedule
This is a part-time position averaging 20–28 hours per week.
Business hours are preferred, but SABRA offers flexibility in scheduling depending on organizational needs.
