Sr. Plant Operator Onshore

BASIC PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Monitor, operate, troubleshoot facility process equipment, and complete daily production reports. Identify maintenance work to be performed and document in maintenance program. Shut down and isolate equipment for repairs. Keep supervisors informed of onshore operational issues. Comply with all Company safety and environmental standards, comply with all regulatory requirements, and report any problems to supervisors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for oil and gas producing operations, including routine maintenance of the equipment and facility to company standards, complying with environmental and safety regulations, keeping down time and operating costs to a minimum, and keeping oil and gas production marketable.
• Perform the following functions:
• Monitor, maintain, and optimize parameters (level, flow, temperature, pressure) within operating guidelines within oil and gas process facility.
• Troubleshoot equipment and make minor repairs to keep process facility on line.
• Must be familiar with process equipment such as: Pumps, Compressors, Two and Three phase separators, Process Heaters and Incinerators, Tanks, Produced water treatment, Gas sweetening and separation.
• Knowledge of gas turbines/co-generation systems preferred.
• Test, calibrate and maintain safety instrumentation and equipment.
• Operates DCS computer in control room, managing the plant processes
• Input production data into computer programs.
• Assist Lead Operator with all aspects of the maintenance program.
• Comply with all Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory compliance issues.
• Assist in overseeing of contractor related jobs and pre-job safety meetings.
• May perform other related duties.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• 7 or more years operational experience in the oil and gas industry
• Must be able to work rotating shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Work 12-hour per day base schedule, plus overtime when required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
• Proficient in the use of MS Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook)
• Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and meet established deadlines
• Must have mechanical aptitude
• Familiar with environmental, safety, and regulatory policies
• Safety and H2S training
• Work effectively in a team environment
• Must be able to take direction from supervisors
• Must be able to work without direct supervision
• Must be onsite; work location is in Goleta, CA

PAY INFORMATION:

• Hourly pay range: $46 - $58

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The position requires manual dexterity to handle documents and operate office equipment such as, copiers, printers, and computers. Also required is performing repetitive motions, and extended periods of sitting, standing and walking for varying lengths of time. The position requires interacting and communicating professionally with others via speaking, hearing, and writing. Ability to learn new tasks, processes and concepts, thinking to solve problems, and concentrating on required tasks is necessary. Ability to distinguish color, depth perception, read data, figures, electronic and hard copy documents is required.

The position requires frequent stooping, bending, squatting, crawling, crouching, pushing, reaching, pulling, lifting, grasping, fingering, reaching over the shoulders and below the waist, carrying of up to 75 lbs while walking, lifting up to 95 lbs to waist level and lifting up to 65 lbs over shoulder level, the continuous use of both hands, arms, and feet and the manual dexterity to operate heavy and light tools, equipment, and materials.

The position requires walking or traversing over and across uneven terrain, accessing of areas outdoors and on or around equipment, over or around obstacles or structures such as pipes, low rails and walls, stooping or bending to reach certain locations, climbing stairs or ladders, and exposure to outside weather conditions.

The position requires wearing personal protection equipment such as gloves, gas mask, suits, etc. with an average weight of 10-25 pounds.
