We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support a dynamic Santa Fe legal team specializing in municipal finance and public entity debt issuance. The ideal candidate already possesses a solid foundational understanding of how municipal governments, school districts, and public entities borrow money through bonds and other debt instruments. You will manage complex closing documents, interface with government officials, and ensure regulatory compliance for public finance transactions.
This position is in-person located in Santa Fe - No remote work
Job Responsibilities for the Legal Assistant:
- Draft, review, and organize specialized legal documents including bond resolutions, transcripts of proceedings, official statements, and closing certificates.
- Coordinate municipal bond closings, manage critical deadlines, and compile final bond transcripts for public entities.
- Assist with filing necessary documentation with federal and state regulatory bodies, including the MSRB, SEC, and New Mexico state agencies.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for municipal clients, underwriters, financial advisors, and state officials to gather information and move transactions forward.
- Conduct public records research, verify governing body meeting minutes, and ensure proper publication of legal notices regarding public debt.
Qualifications for the Legal Assistant:
- Minimum of 2–3 years of legal support experience, with a direct focus on municipal finance, public law, or corporate bonds.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat) and legal document management systems.
- Exceptional proofreading skills to handle precise, high-stakes financial and legal text.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills suitable for interacting with high-level government entities and legal counsel.
- Associate degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent professional legal experience required.
- Candidates located in Santa Fe preferred.
Compensation for the Legal Assistant:
$25-$30 Hourly (DOE)
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
