Security Officers are responsible for protecting construction personnel, equipment, facilities, and project assets while enforcing site access procedures and maintaining a visible security presence. Officers will work closely with project management and local emergency responders to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
Responsibilities
- Control access to construction sites and verify authorized personnel.
- Conduct vehicle and pedestrian access screening.
- Patrol assigned work areas, staging yards, and project facilities.
- Monitor surveillance cameras and security systems.
- Prepare accurate daily activity and incident reports.
- Respond to emergencies, alarms, and suspicious activity.
- Enforce client policies and site safety procedures.
- Communicate professionally with project personnel, contractors, and visitors.
- Report safety hazards, security concerns, and unusual incidents immediately.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Maryland Security Guard Certification (or ability to obtain before employment).
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass a background investigation and drug screening.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
- Ability to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
Preferred
- Previous security, military, law enforcement, corrections, or public safety experience.
- Experience working on construction, transportation, utility, or infrastructure projects.
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
- Experience working in high-security or safety-sensitive environments.
