Saber Tool, a trusted and established small machine shop in Cadillac, MI, is seeking a hands-on General Manager to help lead our team into the future. As General Manager, you will oversee daily operations, sales, and financial performance while working closely with the President/CEO to set strategic goals and drive growth. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves, who can build strong customer relationships, support the shop floor when needed, optimize workflow, and ensure the business runs efficiently and profitably.
Position Breakdown/Responsibilities:
- Sales & Customer Relationships (45%) - Quoting jobs, engaging with customers, and generating new leads.
- Operations (30%) - Managing schedules, improving workflows, driving continuous improvement initiatives, adhering to Safety and Quality standards.
- Administrative (15%) - Overseeing payroll, HR functions, and employee training/development plans.
- Financial (10%) - Managing P&L, monitoring financial performance, and supporting budgeting and forecasting.

Qualifications/Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a machine shop leadership position.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement techniques.
- Proven ability to develop customer relationships.
- Highly self-motivated, able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently in challenging situations.
- Highly ethical, trusted to maintain a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated understanding of technology (i.e. complexities of products, machinery, computers, etc.)
This position is scheduled to work Monday thru Thursday 6am to 5pm with Friday's as needed.
*We plan to hold in person interviews during the first two weeks of December. This position will start January 5, 2026.*
Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
