Land Development Engineer
Saber Power Services, a portfolio company of Greenbelt Capital Partners, is a fully integrated electrical power system services firm providing end-to-end solutions across utility, renewables and battery storage, industrial, petrochemical, and other markets. Saber Power Services seeks a Land Development Engineer with an active Professional Engineer (PE) license to support and lead land development and site engineering efforts for high-voltage (HV) EPC projects, including substations, transmission facilities, renewable generation interconnections, and large electrical infrastructure sites. The ideal candidate has deep experience in civil/site design for utility-scale projects, strong project leadership capabilities, and the ability to coordinate across engineering disciplines in an EPC environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead civil engineering design for HV EPC projects, including grading, drainage, access roads, stormwater management, utilities, foundation layout coordination, and site development for substations and transmission facilities.
- Develop and oversee site plans, construction drawings, engineering calculations, specifications, and permitting documents.
- Support EPC bid packages, conceptual site designs, material takeoffs, and constructability reviews.
- Perform hydrology/hydraulics modeling and site feasibility evaluations for greenfield and brownfield substation sites.
- Coordinate closely with electrical, structural, geotechnical, and environmental teams to ensure integrated, constructible site solutions.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and client expectations across multiple concurrent projects.
- Interface directly with utilities, permitting agencies, AHJs, property owners, and other stakeholders to secure approvals and ensure code compliance.
- Provide mentoring, quality oversight, and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
- Conduct site visits, support construction teams, respond to RFIs, and resolve field issues during execution.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of civil engineering standards, templates, and best practices within the EPC organization.
- Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- 5 years of civil/site engineering experience, with at least 3 years supporting substation, transmission, or utility-scale infrastructure.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience with NESC, utility standards, and substation site design requirements.
- Exposure to large renewable energy sites (solar, wind, BESS) or interconnection facilities.
- Familiarity with geotechnical coordination, grounding layout constraints, and heavy equipment access planning.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, grading design, drainage modeling, and stormwater software (e.g., HydroCAD, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS).
- Skills:
