Electrical - Engineer I
Saber Power Services, a portfolio company of Greenbelt Capital Partners, is a fully integrated electrical power system services firm providing end-to-end solutions across utility, renewables and battery storage, industrial, petrochemical, and other markets. Position Summary:
The Electrical - Engineer I is an entry-level role supporting the design and execution of high voltage EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects, including substations, transmission lines, and power distribution systems. This position works under the guidance of senior engineers to develop technical deliverables, perform basic analyses, and support project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design of high voltage electrical systems for substation, transmission, and distribution projects
- Support preparation of engineering deliverables including:
- One-line diagrams
- Protection & control schematics
- Equipment layouts and general arrangement drawings
- Bills of material (BOMs) and specifications
- Perform basic electrical calculations and studies under supervision, including:
- Load flow and voltage drop
- Short-circuit analysis
- Equipment sizing and selection
- Assist with specification and evaluation of major equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, and protective relays
- Review vendor submittals and shop drawings for compliance with project requirements
- Coordinate with designers and drafters to ensure accuracy and completeness of drawings
- Support project teams with documentation, scheduling, and interdepartmental coordination
- Participate in site visits, construction support, and commissioning activities to gain field experience
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements (IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, etc.)
- Maintain organized project files and documentation
- Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- 0–2 years of experience (internship or co-op experience in power systems preferred)
- Passed or actively pursuing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
- Basic understanding of power systems and electrical engineering principles
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar drafting tools
- Exposure to power system analysis software such as ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower is a plus
- Knowledge of high voltage equipment and protection systems
- Interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
- Skills:
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
