Custodial Building Lead | West Bloomfield

Monday–Friday | 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM

$18 per hour

Are you a hands-on leader who takes pride in maintaining clean, safe, and well-run facilities? Saber Building Services is seeking a Custodial Building Lead in West Bloomfield to oversee evening cleaning operations, support janitorial staff, and help ensure the facility consistently meets high standards for cleanliness, safety, and appearance.

This role is ideal for someone who can lead by example, provide guidance and support to team members, and step in to assist with cleaning duties when needed. If you are dependable, organized, and confident managing both people and daily operational needs, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

• Supervise and support cleaning staff during the evening shift
• Train team members on cleaning procedures, safety expectations, and performance standards
• Perform hands-on cleaning duties alongside staff as needed
• Ensure all assigned work is completed to company standards for cleanliness, hygiene, maintenance, and appearance
• Conduct regular inspections of work areas and provide feedback, coaching, and direction to staff
• Monitor building conditions and address cleanliness or service issues promptly and effectively
• Operate cleaning equipment such as an auto scrubber and backpack vacuum on a regular basis
• Ensure cleaning equipment and supplies are used properly and maintained in good working condition
• Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and restocking cleaning supplies and equipment
• Help maintain compliance with company policies and all health, safety, and environmental procedures
• Support a clean, safe, and professional environment for building occupants and visitors
• Perform other duties as assigned

What You Bring

• Previous janitorial, custodial, or facility cleaning experience
• Prior supervisory or team lead experience preferred
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, chemicals, and safety practices
• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently while also leading and supporting a team
• Reliability, professionalism, and attention to detail

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry cleaning supplies and equipment
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and kneel for extended periods
• Ability to perform active cleaning work throughout the shift
• Ability to work in environments involving dust, cleaning chemicals, and other routine janitorial conditions

Additional Information

• This position may require occasional weekend and/or holiday work depending on facility needs
• The role includes both supervisory responsibilities and active, hands-on cleaning support
