Under the clinical supervision of the Licensed Medical Provider, this position will perform non-invasive routine technical supportive services related to therapeutic and diagnostic functions, while following established procedures and techniques. This position also provides a variety of administrative, assistive, and supportive clinical activities. Effectively communicating with patients, team members and others to coordinate a smooth and timely clinic flow for patients in order to achieve PCMH goals.

Effectively communicating with patients, team members and others to coordinate a smooth and timely clinic flow for patients in order to achieve PCMH goals.
Job Duties
- Listens to patients’ complaints and concerns and works to resolve them independently; refers patients to clinicians or appropriate supervisor if unable to resolve issues to their satisfaction.
- Assist with peer training of new staff.
- Collaborates with the Medical Provider and front office staff regarding the intake of patients in the absence of a nurse.
- Facilitate improvements to patient care by sharing ideas/concerns and helping develop new processes to increase efficiency in the delivery of services.
- Sets up equipment and exam rooms prior to clinic sessions, ensuring all necessary supplies are stocked and readily available.
- Utilizes the electronic health records (EHR) database to access prior patient history, test results, related information, and performs data entry to record information about the current appointment.
- Helps maintain patient care equipment such as nebulizer, Hemacue machine, blood pressure unit, oxygen/or suction apparatus, etc.
- Assists in auditing of vaccinations used and ensures accountability in vaccination utilization among Medical Assistants.
- Review and test EHR system updates; participate in meetings, train staff and serve as point of contact for questions.
- Checks patients’ vital signs; conducts vision and hearing screenings; EKGs and venipuncture; records test results in the patients’ EHR. Assists providers with medical treatments, procedures, and exams
- Checks-out patients, provides each patient with their After Visit Summary (AVS) at each visit. Gives handouts and/or self-monitoring tools, when necessary.
- Minimum of a Certification for Medical Assistant from a California accredited school.
- Skills in performing venipuncture, audiometry and spirometry
- Ability/skill in conducting EKG tests
- Fluency in another language such as Spanish, Russian, Armenian or Korean preferred.
- Prior clinical experience in a health care setting in a similar community clinic environment preferred.
