What are the responsibilities and job description for the Attorney position at SaaS Law?
SaaS Law is a boutique, niche law firm in the endlessly expanding software-as-a-service industry that represents SaaS companies as fractional general or corporate counsel. SaaS Law is poised to grow and an individual eager to participate in that growth would enjoy the opportunity and flexibility that SaaS Law provides.
This is a full-time associate position. You would mainly provide SaaS-specific commercial contract negotiation, drafting, and advising (80%). Other legal work (15%) would include drafting and responding to demand letters, basic employment law advising, basic corporate formation and governance, data privacy advising, software product compliance, and possibly M&A/capital markets work (depending on your level of experience in that area). You would also be assisting to train AI prompts in the development of SaaS Law's contracting technology (5%).
This is a competitively salaried position with preference to an individual that can work 2 days per week in-office in Thousand Oaks, California. Benefits are included and bonuses would be extended for exceeding hourly billing requirements and bringing in new client's.
Responsibilities
- Build relationships of trust directly with SaaS executive leadership, sales and operations teams.
- Timely response to client inquiries.
- Compliance with deadlines.
- Genuinely positive and friendly attitude with SaaS Law's exceptional client base.
- Review, draft, negotiate and edit SaaS, AI SaaS and technology commercial contracts.
- Other legal work as described above.
- Meticulously track time spent.
- AI prompt training for SaaS Law contracting technology.
- Daily accountability to SaaS Law manager.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2-3 years experience as an in-house attorney for a software or technology company (SaaS or SaaS AI is preferred) working directly with executive leadership, sales and operations teams as legal counsel (this is non-negotiable as I do not have time to train a brand new lawyer or one with no in-house SaaS commercial contracting experience)
- Extensive commercial contracting experience (your main responsibility)
- Bar licensure.
- Enjoy entrepreneurship (or at least highly appreciate others who are entrepreneurs)
- Gregarious, easy-going
Preferred
- Preference to applicants with ties to the area surrounding Thousand Oaks, California(Ventura County or west San Fernando Valley).
- Secondary preference would be to Salt Lake/Utah Counties, Los Angeles/Orange Counties, Bay area locations.
- California or Utah bar licensure
