Salary: $115k-$160k (depending on experience)
The Database Administrator III supports the Navy by designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise database systems supporting global Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) environments. This role focuses on database architecture, performance optimization, security, and high availability across mission-critical systems.
Essential Functions:
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise database systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) in support of NETTN operations.
- Optimize database performance through tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
- Implement and maintain database security controls, including encryption, access controls, and auditing in accordance with RMF and STIG requirements.
- Manage database backup, recovery, replication, and high availability solutions.
- Support database integration with enterprise applications and systems.
- Perform capacity planning, monitoring, and troubleshooting of database environments.
- Ensure compliance with DoD and Navy cybersecurity policies and database STIGs.
- Support system accreditation (ATO) activities including documentation and remediation.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
Required:
- 5–7 years of experience in database administration, engineering, or related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Hands-on experience administering enterprise databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
- Experience with database performance tuning, backup/recovery, and high availability solutions.
- Knowledge of database security practices, RMF, STIGs, and DoD cybersecurity requirements.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, or equivalent).
Desired:
- Experience supporting DoD or Navy programs and classified environments.
- Experience with cloud-based database platforms (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL).
- Familiarity with automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, SQL scripting).
- Experience with data replication, clustering, and disaster recovery architectures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple database environments and priorities.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Security Clearance:
Must be eligible to obtain a Secret, Top Secret, or TS/SCI clearance. Active clearances preferred. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.
