the Jockey will move and organize various trailers around the yard. The Jockey's main goal is to move material where we need it. Operating and maintaining the yard as Lite driver. They are required to drive a semi-truck inside the yard (not driving outside company premises) and collect fully loaded containers and return to them empty containers. Drivers must conduct themselves professionally when dealing with customers and their employees. They follow all in-yard rules for driving in close quarters and all traffic controllers. and able to take direction from Multiple people

This position will work inside and outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Responsibilities

include, but are not limited to:

Pre and post inspection of equipment, maintaining records of inspections, basic maintenance of crucial aspects of the equipment, and communicating with mechanics to ensure preventative maintenance is done regularly.

Daily inspection of trailers in the bull pen and providing comprehensive list of transportation equipment currently on the yard.

Working interdepartmentally with supervisors and peers to meet the needs of departments responsible for the maintaining, unloading, and assigning trailers. Communicating across all departments to ensure the safe movement of equipment through the yard. Able to take direction form multiple people in a positive manger

Job Duties

Load and unload trucks hauling scrap metal

• Inspect and determine metal grade for inventory tracking.
• Perform daily operation and safety inspection.
• Communicates with Supervisor and material handler to determine commodities to load.
• Works independently when driving scrap metal.
• Works with customers to satisfy their needs and assist them when problems arise.
• Work with other employees in the scrap metal yard to ensure a safe working environment.
• Perform normal daily operation maintenance refueling, lubrication, cooling system cleaning, and housekeeping
• Clean up work area at the end of shift
• Keep work areas neat and orderly
• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential job functions
• Organizing materials to have more effective use of space
• Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner
• Inspection to ensure cleanup is completed
• Effective housekeeping in workplace area is an ongoing operation for safety and better hygienic conditions for all team members.
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Must pass a medical physical and drug test
• Must pass a background check
• Preferred – high school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable
• Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus
• Ability to: communicate with others effectively; understand direction (written or oral) and use basic math skills as the job demands

Work Environment: Scrap metal Recycling and shredder yard

• Equipment & Tools: Trucks up to 18 wheeler, hydraulic truck tilt and lift operations, Box Containers, mechanics tools,
• Physical Demand Level: Light to Moderate, keeps steady when machine in rocking in all directions, climbing fixed ladders
