Job Overview

Duties
- Develop and deliver engaging educational presentations and interactive programs for visitors of all ages, emphasizing animal physiology, taxonomy, and conservation efforts.
- Assist with daily animal handling, including restraint and medication administration, ensuring safety for both animals and staff.
- Support scientific research projects related to zoology, microbiology, or environmental law, including data collection and analysis using GIS tools such as ArcGIS.
- Maintain detailed records of animal health, behavior observations, and research findings in compliance with zoo protocols.
- Contribute to habitat management through horticultural activities and support zoo keeper routines such as feeding and enrichment.
- Educate visitors on pet care, animal anatomy, veterinary procedures, and the importance of environmental stewardship.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards during animal interactions and laboratory activities involving microbiology or other scientific disciplines.
- Assist in developing educational materials that incorporate knowledge of microbiology, taxonomy, and animal care best practices.
Experience
- Prior experience in animal handling or pet care is highly desirable.
- Laboratory experience or veterinary background is beneficial for understanding animal health procedures.
- Familiarity with scientific research methodologies, microbiology techniques, or GIS applications such as ArcGIS enhances effectiveness in this role.
- Knowledge of environmental law related to wildlife protection is a plus.
- Experience in horticulture or habitat management supports the maintenance of naturalistic enclosures.
- Previous work as a zoo keeper or in zoological education demonstrates relevant skills in animal restraint and anatomy knowledge.
