About the Role
The Account Manager is responsible for managing and growing client relationships within the workers compensation managed care sector. This role serves as the primary point of contact for assigned clients (insurance carriers, third-party administrators, self-insured employers, and brokers), ensuring high levels of client satisfaction, program performance, retention, and revenue growth.
The Account Manager collaborates cross-functionally with operations, bill review, CBS, pharmacy, and ancillary teams to deliver effective cost-containment and medical management solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary contact for assigned workers compensation clients.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Conduct regular business reviews (QBRs/annual reviews) to present performance metrics, savings results, and program outcomes.
- Ensure client satisfaction and proactively address concerns or service issues.
Account Growth & Retention
- Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling additional managed care services (e.g., bill review, CBS, case management, pharmacy benefit management, and Ancillary).
- Develop account strategies to increase revenue and expand service utilization.
- Maintain high client retention rates.
Performance & Reporting
- Analyze program performance data including medical cost savings, turnaround times, and utilization trends.
- Deliver customized client reporting and interpret key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Monitor service level agreements (SLAs) and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with operations, IT, and finance to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Advocate internally on behalf of clients to resolve operational challenges.
- Assist with onboarding new clients and implementing new services.
Compliance & Industry Knowledge
- Maintain knowledge of state workers compensation regulations and managed care requirements.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and company policies.
- Stay current on industry trends, cost-containment strategies, and healthcare regulations affecting workers compensation.
What Were Looking For
- 2 - 5 years of proven experience as an Account Manager or in a similar role.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Risk management and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple accounts simultaneously, under deadlines.
- Prior experience in Workers Comp or the Healthcare space.
- Individual must reside in one of the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, orSouth Carolina.
