MISSION/SUMMARY:
The Millwright is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial machinery and equipment. Using specialized tools, such as welders or power tools, they align and replace a machine’s individual parts. They also move and relocate machinery on and off site. Employee must function at high levels of quality and efficiency while maintaining the highest standard of safety.
JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.
•Performs installation, maintenance and repair work on mill equipment and fabricating plant machinery, which involves setting, leveling, aligning, dismantling and reassembling. Repairing plant machinery which includes demolition and reinstallation of wear liners, platforms, chain ways, etc.
•Prepares sketches and drawings of replacement or new machine parts, and fabricates these parts using common machine tools, hand tools, and power tools.
•Performs sheet metal work involved in making spouting, chutes, square to rounds, flatbacks, platforms, handrail, etc.
•Must be able to perform arc (7100 Dual-Shield) and stick (7018/6010) welding on all metals.
•Rough carpentry work, stick framing, concrete forms, etc.
•Plan and layout jobs with the aid of blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions without complications.
•Mixes, pours and finishes cement for foundations, bases and floor repairs.
•Must be able to operate heavy equipment such as forklift, skid steer, telehandler, mini x, backhoe, etc.
•Reports necessary repair or maintenance to the supervisor. Exercises caution and care in the operation of material handling equipment.
•Sketches and makes or fabricates parts by the use of pipe threading machine, drill press or required tools for temporary repair or devised improvement.
•Inspect, salvage or discard used materials or equipment.
•Must be able to weld mild steel and or ar500/T1 steel. Use a cutting torch as required to remove miscellaneous material, cut out parts, use rosebud to heat material, etc. One must also know how to air arc as some materials may require.
•Diligently practice good safety and housekeeping techniques in accordance with S&S IND/Mill Safety rules.

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
•Manufacturing and or Mill experience strongly preferred.
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
•High School Diploma or equivalent required.
•4 years of experience as a multi-specialty mechanic/millwright
•Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and information sheets.
SPECIFIC SKILLS:
•Must be able to weld mild steel and or ar500/T1 steel
•Must be able to use Company tools, power tools, as well provide some of your own tools.
•Job requires working around production equipment while it is in operation and requires climbing ladders and working from girders and scaffolding.
•Job requires exposure to weather, dirt, grease, fumes and heat.
•Must have knowledge of methods of lifting heavy equipment, which includes the use of rigging chain, rope, slings, shackles, and overhead cranes. One must know and understand load limitations.
SCHEDULE DEMANDS:
•Schedule and location may change on a day-to-day basis
•Work 10hr shifts (Days, Swing, Nights)
•Due to shutdowns and outages, one must be able to work long days 12-14hr days
•May require a lot of overtime
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
•Standing for extended periods.
•Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
•Moving or lifting of equipment, materials, and tools up to 50-100 lbs. repeatedly for 10-14hr. shift.
•Climbing extension ladders, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or movement within confined areas.
•Work in buildings and areas of fluctuating temperature and weather in all seasons
