What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at S & S Cycle?
JOB SUMMARY:
Move parts in and out of the warehouse for Manufacturing, store inventory as needed. Load and unload trucks, record transactions into ERP / MRP systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Thoroughly understand and adhere to the department goals, objectives, and strategy
Establish and maintain credibility throughout the organization as an effective developer of solutions
Present and maintain positive morale amongst employees
Load and unload trucks
Pick material for work orders and deliver to workstations or staging areas
Store Raw Material / WIP / Finished Goods / Supplies as necessary
Maintain inventory in appropriate locations
Maintain inventory accuracy levels at company targets
Identify and label material with correct part number and descriptions
Weigh scrap containers, log as necessary, load on truck
Cycle count some part numbers as directed
Record transactions in the computer on a timely basis
Unload all Freight Carriers and UPS shipments(sort and log in), deliver paperwork
Check inventory when necessary for discrepancies
Prepare shipments of material for outside operations, issue corresponding work orders as directed
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experienced working in the production field
Flexible, energetic, forward-thinking, and creative with high moral and ethical standards
High analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus
Well organized and self-directed
Able to relate to people at all levels of the organization in a positive fashion
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; working knowledge of computer applications
Prior warehouse work helpful
Working knowledge of ERP / MRP and inventory location system necessary
Capable of high attention to detail and transaction accuracy
Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred in related field
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Will be required to perform job duties in a manufacturing production environment
While performing duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and forklift traffic
The noise level is moderate, and some production areas may require hearing protection in accordance with OSHA requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms above shoulders, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch
Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception
Must comply with safety and PPE standards, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety toed shoes
