TITLE: Sr Project Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Core Product
REPORTS TO: Director of Core Product
LOCATION: Viola, WI (on-site)
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for project team delivery including technical guidance and leadership. This includes design, research, prototyping, qualification and certification testing, engineering documentation, and process improvement. Creation and monitoring of project timelines. Responsible for work with engineers, technicians, purchasing, other personnel, and suppliers to meet project goals. Perform tasks as required to complete projects per planned budget and timing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Establishes specifications, targets, and deliverables and maintains the product specifications from the reviews with all relevant parties (management, marketing, finance, engineering, manufacturing, quality, sales, etc.)
- Plans and directs the construction of prototypes to meet customer and company regulatory requirements
- Project planning including Work Breakdown Structure, NPV, and Statement of Requirements, budgets, and maintenance of all project documents in accordance with the Product Development Process
- Leads project meetings, design reviews, and communicates results.
- Provides leadership for any assigned personnel including work assignments and performance reviews
- Ensure components and assemblies adhere to applicable industry and business standards
- Establish test requirements, directs and supports testing of prototypes to verify reliability and performance
- Create test reports and analyze data to determine if design meets function and performance specifications
- Work within specified budget guidelines
- Determine if parts meet minimum stress levels and regulatory compliance through test and analysis
- Lead investigation of field problems and warranty issues
- Identify and select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes
- Confirm designs with engineering/purchasing team
- Research new technology, materials, and methods of development
- Thoroughly understand and adhere to the department goals, objectives, and strategy
- Establish and maintain credibility throughout the organization as an effective developer of solutions
- Present and maintain positive morale amongst employees
- Perform other projects and tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experienced working as an engineering professional in Powersports or a related industry preferred
- Minimum of 5 years experience in project and team leadership
- APQP based product development and launch experience preferred
- Knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD software preferred
- Flexible, energetic, forward-thinking, and creative with high moral and ethical standards
- High analytical ability, good judgment, and strong organizational focus
- Well organized and self-directed
- Familiarity with IC engines and their components
- Able to relate to people at all levels of the organization in a positive fashion
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; working knowledge of computer applications
- B.S. in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related Engineering degree
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work is performed in an office environment with occasional exposure to production environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel or crawl.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
- Must comply with safety equipment standards: safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety toe shoes when present on production floor
