Summary: Directs and coordinates the warehouse activities of the distribution center by performing the following duties.


Standard Work Hours: 5:00 PM - 3:00 AM

Education and/or Experience:

Previous supervisory experience required; 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Must possess a valid driver’s license; CDL A preferred or ability to obtain as required.
  • Serves as the primary link between dock operations and drivers, ensuring efficient communication, smooth outbound flow, and timely departures.
  • Oversees the outbound process from conveyor to dock door, ensuring efficient flow and timely truck loading.
  • Monitors and drives on-time departures; proactively identifies and addresses factors that may impact schedules (coordinating PTO, lunches, and breaks in ADP)
  • Schedules drivers and works closely with dispatch to coordinate outbound departures, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations and company policies.
  • Maintains accountability from loaded truck through delivery to the customer, focusing on accuracy, safety, and service excellence.
  • Executes plans decisively, ensuring alignment between dock operations, dispatch, and delivery teams.
  • Supervises employees who make deliveries to and from specified locations. Ensures drivers comply with their essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Develops and maintains outbound dock and delivery procedures to maximize efficiency and accuracy.
  • Anticipates potential issues in routes, equipment, or staffing, and develops effective alternative plans to maintain service continuity.
  • Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Assist in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement and customer satisfaction opportunities. 
  • Maintains a primary focus on teamwork, building strong working relationships and supporting an atmosphere of cooperation with coworkers at the Distribution Center, Division, and corporate levels.
  • Must meet SPR’s Driving Standards as provided at time of interview and maintain those standards throughout employment.
  • Must be able to safely drive product to customers on established routes, utilizing route numbers to identify correct customer (and able to operate a manual transmission vehicle.)
  • Must be able to meet and fulfill all regulations and requirements for truck drivers as prescribed by the DOT. 
  • Must be able to accurately read, recognize, and process product numbers and line codes to ensure proper placement and delivery of products.

 

OUTBOUND SUPERVISOR

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • Directly supervise outbound dock staff and drivers assigned to the shift. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these personnel.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 
  • Responsible for asset control, maintenance, utilization and the physical security of the facility.
  • Assigns and trains dock warehouse workers to accurately route packages from the conveyor belt to the proper route by pallet utilizing hand scanners. 
  • Ensures that dock employees are stacking product on pallets correctly to prevent any product damage.
  • Insures that all pallets are placard properly with the appropriate Dealer’s name to prevent any miss deliveries by the courier.
  • Processes all nightly paperwork required such as delivery manifest, exception reporting, truck departure log, etc. 
  • Ensures all Parcel, Drop Ship, LTL shipments are processed by the designated cut-off time and make the scheduled truck. 
  • Tracks the productivity and accuracy of the dock employees on the Productivity & Accuracy report. 
  • Administers company safety programs to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all employees.
  • Provide driver on route assist related to vehicle maintenance, customer delivery, tablet, etc. 
  • Communicates with outbound carriers, internal dispatch, drivers, fleet vendors and management to address delivery or scheduling issues.
  • Coordinates with HQ Logistics Department when external carrier performance improvement or issue resolution is required. 
  • Establishes operational procedures for outbound shipments, handling, and disposition of merchandise, and the accurate keeping of warehouse inventory.
  • Communicates information to Warehouse Manager, Operation Manager, General Manager and or Headquarters in a timely manner to expedite merchandise receipt, shipping, and special handlings.
  • Directs reclamation of damaged merchandise.
  • Manages the productivity and accuracy of personnel and administers employee disciplinary warnings in conjunction with branch management.
  • Understands and operates PKMS warehouse management system.
  • Monitor the daily checklist to ensure all processes are completed before the end of shift
  • Print and interpret reports to measure employee productivity
  • Demonstrates strong leadership that drives both driver performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintains a proactive mindset and fosters a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Serves as a “people person” — approachable, communicative, and dedicated to motivating and developing team members.

 Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

 Computer Skills:

Knowledge of basic office (spreadsheet, word processing, e-mail) as well as inventory and warehouse management software. Knowledge of AS400 and PKMS is essential.  Familiarity with routing software such as Solera Roadnet / Omnitracs is a pre-requisite.
