As an NDT Project Manager, you will play a central role in delivering high‑quality construction materials testing, special inspections, and technical project support across a wide range of projects. You'll coordinate field assignments, evaluate data, prepare professional reports and proposals, and mentor junior staff. Your expertise in non-destructive testing will support both successful project delivery and the continued growth of the office.
Your Day-to-Day:
- Field Data Collection & Site Characterization: Coordinate and execute field non-destructive testing activities, identify risks to data quality, & recommend scope adjustments.
- Construction Observations & Special Inspections: Perform routine construction and site observations, document field findings, and train junior staff on inspection procedures for multiple non-destructive testing methods.
- Technical Computations & Data Verification: Conduct routine to moderately complex technical calculations, mentor junior staff in computational tasks, and review data for accuracy and trends.
- Report & Proposal Development: Prepare professional reports and daily field documentation, assist in proposal development through site visits and document review, and draft scopes of work under senior staff guidance.
- Client Relations & Business Development: Participate in client meetings, support business development initiatives, engage in local professional organizations, and contribute to internal marketing and growth activities.
Who We're Looking For:
We're looking for a candidate who thrives in a role that blends hands‑on fieldwork with analytical problem‑solving and direct client interaction. The ideal person brings strong technical judgment, clear communication skills, and the ability to balance multiple priorities while contributing positively to a fast‑paced, collaborative team environment.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or a similar technical field required, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project management of non-destructive testing/inspections of various materials
- Active industry-related certifications such as:
- American Welding Society: Certified Welding Inspector
- International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Structural Steel, Welding & Bolting)
- American Society of Non-Destructive Testing: Visual Testing Level II, Penetrant Testing Level II, Magnetic Particle Testing Level II, Ultrasonic Testing Level II, or Radiography Testing Level II
- Excellent business and technical writing skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must be able to effectively lead teams with varying responsibilities and tasks
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
This role involves hands-on work in outdoor environments, and with Company-provided Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), you'll need to be comfortable with:
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing (potentially up to 12 hours a day)
- Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
- Working outside of normal business hours and traveling (typically out-of-town and/or overnight) as project needs arise.
