Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the asphalt plant, ensuring production targets are met efficiently and safely.
- Operate and oversee heavy equipment such as loaders, forklifts, and other machinery essential for material handling and plant operation.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of plant equipment, including fabricating parts when necessary using welding, machining, or fabrication skills.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints using CAD software to assist with mixture design adjustments or equipment modifications.
- Monitor adherence to safety standards in production areas, enforce safety protocols, and conduct regular safety training sessions for team members.
- Manage mixture design processes to ensure asphalt quality meets project specifications; adjust formulations based on testing results and technical guidelines.
- Maintain detailed records of production data, equipment maintenance logs, safety reports, and inventory levels for materials such as concrete mixer components or hand tools.
- Collaborate with construction teams to coordinate delivery schedules, troubleshoot operational issues on-site, and support outdoor work activities requiring heavy lifting or power tool safety.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction or manufacturing environments with a focus on asphalt or concrete production.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate heavy machinery including loaders, forklifts, and concrete mixers safely.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, machining tools, and fabrication techniques.
- Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints accurately; experience with CAD software is preferred.
- Knowledge of mixture design principles for asphalt production along with understanding of safety standards related to heavy equipment operation and outdoor work environments.
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to mixture proportions, and inventory management.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety protocol adherence during all phases of plant operation.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting, prolonged outdoor work exposure, and operating machinery in various weather conditions.
