What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Audio Visual Tech position at S&L Integrated?
Bring technology to life. As a Lead AV Technician, you won’t just install systems—you’ll create immersive audio, video, and lighting experiences that power businesses, inspire audiences, and connect people. This is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.
You’ll work across a variety of environments—including commercial spaces, houses of worship, government facilities, and industrial sites—leading installations and supporting both customers and team members in the field.
What You’ll Do
- Install, set up, test, calibrate, and tune complete AV systems according to project specifications
- Lead onsite installation efforts, ensuring work meets company standards and project timelines
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, signal flow diagrams, and wiring plans
- Wire and build full AV racks to company standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve installation issues (both common and complex)
- Supervise and direct technicians and subcontractors when needed
- Communicate with customers to address questions, concerns, and system functionality
- Provide end-user training on installed systems
- Report project risks, issues, and progress updates to the Project Manager
- Accurately track and report time and job progress using company systems
- Perform other duties as assigned
What You Bring
- 3 years of pro AV installation experience in a commercial environment, including audio, video, and lighting systems
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Experience pulling wire and cable using various techniques
- Proficiency with hand and power tools
- Soldering experience
- Knowledge of low-voltage electronics
- Proven ability to lead teams and direct work onsite
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- CTS certification preferred
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Willingness to travel. About 60% of time will require overnight travel
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines
What is the job environment like?
This position requires the ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, use hands and fingers, reach and push with hands and arms. Frequently required to sit, climb, and balance. Work requires the ability to perform job duties on scaffolding, ladders, and at various heights as well as extensive overhead motion required to install equipment. Work requires the ability to lift and move objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds on a daily basis. Will periodically work in non-climate-controlled environments.
