ABOUT THE ROLE
S&L Cold Storage is a produce repack and cold storage facility looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician II to join our team. In this mid-level role, you'll work independently to diagnose, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment in a refrigerated environment. You'll own your work orders, support junior technicians, and play a key role in keeping our operations running safely and efficiently.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Independently applies PPE requirements, LOTO procedures, and OSHA safety regulations
- Enforces GMP cleanliness standards in maintenance work areas and production zones
- Identifies and reports potential safety hazards; contributes to safety improvement initiatives
- Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs production machinery and facility equipment including HVAC/chill units in refrigerated environments (33°F–50°F)
- Performs installation and replacement of mechanical components: motors, belts, bearings, seals, and pneumatic/hydraulic components
- Reads and interprets equipment manuals, circuit diagrams, blueprints, and schematics
- Uses hand tools, power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment
- Independently completes preventive maintenance (PM) work orders on schedule
- Documents findings, actions taken, and parts used in the CMMS accurately
- Identifies recurring failures and communicates root causes to the Maintenance Manager
- Maintains organized parts storage areas per 5S standards.
- Responds promptly to equipment breakdowns during production to minimize downtime
- Diagnoses root causes, repairs defective components, and verifies equipment functionality after repair
- Communicates repair status and equipment condition to supervisors and operations staff Team Support
- Provides on-the-job guidance to Maintenance Technician I staff during shared tasks
- Demonstrates proper techniques, safety practices, and documentation habits to junior team members
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training in a mechanical or industrial discipline preferred
- 2–3 years of maintenance or manufacturing experience with demonstrated competency in electrical systems
- Experience completing PM work orders and using a CMMS
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl- Frequently required to lift up to 75 pounds unaided
- Must be able to work in a cold storage environment (33°F–40°F)
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, electrical hazards, and moderate noise levels
