Role Description The Customs Broker Entry Writer is a full-time, on-site role based in Valley Stream, NY. The role involves preparing and filing customs entries, classifying merchandise, and ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs and other government agency regulations. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing commercial documentation, entering data into brokerage systems, coordinating with internal teams and external partners, and tracking shipments for timely release. The Entry Writer will communicate with clients to obtain missing information, address inquiries, and provide status updates, while proactively identifying and resolving documentation or compliance issues. This position supports continuous improvement in processes and contributes to accurate record-keeping and efficient handling of import transactions.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge or experience in customs brokerage and customs entry procedures.
- Understanding of import regulations, international trade practices, and export documentation.
- Ability to deliver effective customer service and communicate clearly with clients and government agencies.
- Accuracy and attention to detail in data entry, documentation review, and HS classification.
- Proficiency with standard office software and, ideally, customs brokerage or freight forwarding systems.
- Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple entries and deadlines.
- Prior experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain management is a plus.
- High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or related field preferred.
