About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated General Manager – Tax to lead our tax practice in Atlanta, GA. The successful candidate will oversee the management of client relationships, lead and mentor tax professionals, and ensure the accurate preparation and review of complex tax returns. This role requires both technical tax expertise and strong leadership skills to drive operational excellence, client satisfaction, and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the tax department.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring exceptional service delivery.
- Review complex individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns prepared by team members.
- Provide strategic tax planning, compliance, and advisory services.
- Supervise, coach, and develop staff to enhance technical skills and client service capabilities.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Monitor department performance and implement process improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with leadership on business development initiatives and client retention strategies.
- Manage workload allocation, deadlines, and workflow in a hybrid work environment.
Qualifications
- CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation required.
- 8 years of progressive tax experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
- Strong technical expertise in tax compliance and planning for individuals, corporations, and partnerships.
- Demonstrated experience in reviewing and resolving complex tax issues.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and client relationship management skills.
- Proficiency with tax preparation and research software (experience with Lacerte strongly preferred).
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
