SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Civil Designer is responsible for preparing detailed drawings, exhibits, renderings, and designs to support civil and environmental engineering projects, typical design projects include underground utilities, drainage, grading, utility improvement plans, roads, and facilities. This role involves working closely with the project team to produce accurate and effective design documents that meet project specifications and support the successful execution of engineering projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design Consultation and Requirement Gathering: Interact with clients to collect detailed information on design requirements for building projects, including specifications, site location, and budget considerations. Provide expert recommendations on suitable civil designs that align with the client’s objectives, industry trends, and budgetary constraints.
- Civil Design and Drafting: Produce detailed civil designs and building plans using CAD tools such as AutoCAD and Revit, as well as manual drafting instruments. Create designs that meet the desired requirements and expectations of the client, ensuring adherence to the project’s budget and timeline. Modify existing designs based on feedback from clients or management to better align with evolving project goals.
- Project Documentation and Record Keeping: Document and maintain records of all civil designs and other relevant project information for easy access by the Project Manager and team members. Ensure that all project documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and filed appropriately for future reference.
- Cost Estimation and Specification Development: Specify key details for each project, including cost estimates, materials to be used, and the assumed duration of construction. Work closely with project teams to ensure that all technical specifications and designs are feasible and align with project goals.
- Technical Proficiency and Continuous Learning: Maintain proficiency in the latest 3D design and modeling technologies, ensuring that design processes are efficient and up to industry standards. Stay updated on advancements in civil design software, including Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit, to deliver cutting-edge design solutions.

COMPETENCIES / SKILLS

- Experience in project planning and the development of technical specifications
- Expertise in civil design and drafting
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and associated design software
- Strong understanding of building codes and regulations
- BIM (Building Information Modeling) experience
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma required
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as an civil designer
