Position Summary:
We are looking for a Regional Construction Manager (RCM) for a PA-based residential construction company that has been in business for over 45 years and is looking to grow. The RCM oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of all homebuilding construction activities across multiple communities within our South Central/Capital region which ranges along the I-81 corridor from Harrisburg to Chambersburg and along the route 30 corridor from Chambersburg to Gettysburg and surrounding areas. This RCM ensures that all homes are built on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with company quality standards, safety regulations, and local building codes. The RCM leads and mentors our project managers and works with our sales team and administrative support staff to deliver an exceptional homebuyer experience and uphold the company’s reputation for excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
- Manage day-to-day construction operations for multiple communities within the region.
- Develop and implement standardized construction processes to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency.
- Monitor project schedules and budgets, proactively addressing delays or cost variances.
- Collaborate with Purchasing, Sales, Land Development, and Customer Care teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
Team Management & Development
- Recruit, train, and mentor project managers, as needed.
- Conduct regular site visits to evaluate performance, safety practices, and workmanship.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Quality & Safety Oversight
- Ensure adherence to company quality standards, building codes, and warranty requirements.
- Oversee safety compliance across all job sites, including enforcement of OSHA and company policies.
- Conduct quality assurance inspections and review third-party inspection reports.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in creating and managing regional construction budgets and forecasts.
- Approve invoices, change orders, and purchase orders in line with company policies.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or customer satisfaction.
Customer Experience
- Support the delivery of high-quality homes on schedule for homeowner orientations and closings.
- Partner with the Customer Care team to address post-close warranty issues and identify root causes.
Strategic Planning
- Participate in land acquisition evaluations, providing construction feasibility insights.
- Support new community start-ups, model home construction, and grand openings.
- Provide feedback to senior leadership on market trends, subcontractor performance, and operational challenges.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 8–10 years of residential construction experience, including at least 3 years in a multi-community management or regional leadership role.
- Technical Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, familiarity with construction scheduling software (e.g., BuildPro, Hyphen Homefront) helpful but not necessary.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of residential construction processes, building codes, safety standards, and value engineering principles.
- Leadership Skills: Strong team leadership, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
- Certifications (Preferred): OSHA 30-Hour, PMP, or equivalent construction management certification.
Work Environment:
- Regular travel to job sites within the assigned region (up to 50%).
- Work may include exposure to outdoor conditions, construction hazards, and noise levels typical of active job sites.
