Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Grinder to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for precision grinding and finishing metal components to meet strict quality standards. Your expertise will ensure that parts are machined accurately, surfaces are smooth, and specifications are consistently achieved. Responsibilities
- Operate various grinding machines, including surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and tool grinders, to shape and finish metal parts with precision.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and machining instructions to determine grinding requirements.
- Set up and calibrate CNC grinding machines, ensuring proper tooling and fixture alignment for optimal performance.
- Perform routine inspections using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Conduct quality inspections on finished parts to ensure compliance with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols related to grinding operations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams on tooling selection, setup adjustments, and process improvements for increased efficiency.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating grinding machinery such as surface grinders, CNC grinders, or similar equipment in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of machining processes, tooling setups, and fabrication techniques.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately; familiarity with GD&T principles is preferred.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of CNC programming and operation for grinding machines is highly desirable.
- Experience with CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, electrical discharge machining (EDM), press brake machines, CNC lathes, milling machines, stamping presses, welding techniques, and sheet metal fabrication is a plus.
- Basic math skills for measurement calculations and process adjustments.
- Ability to operate cranes or forklifts safely when handling heavy materials or tooling.
