Requisition Summary'
The Senior Cost Accountant performs key functions in the accounting department with a strong emphasis in cost accounting. The is a highly visible role helping to analyze purchase price variances, monitor cost changes on engine models, and participate in month end closing processes. We are looking for a high energy leader who has a track record of contributing to the success of operations and process improvements. This position is based in our Columbus, MS facility.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Prepare timely, accurate, and meaningful reports, cost analyses, and cost factor recommendations.
- Ensure accurate cost standards are established and variances are properly recorded.
- Participate and support month-end closing and forecast activities.
- Prepare and analyze assigned meaningful journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Provide accurate and detailed analysis on purchase price variances.
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation and assist with periodic inventory counts.
- Lead quarterly engine count and prepare corresponding reconciliations.
- Execute internal control reviews and testing as assigned.
- Conduct monthly analysis on changes in costs for typical engine models.
- Ensure USMCA analysis is prepared timely for quarterly reporting.
- Prepare various management reports, financial comments and provide key data as requested.
- Create, engage, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills
- Accounting degree required. CPA/master’s preferred.
- 3 years’ accounting experience required, preferably in a manufacturing or related environment.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with a desire to learn other accounting technology.
- SAP/ERP system experience preferred.
- Proven ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with accuracy.
- Communicate with impact and clarity to all levels of team members.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- High-energy team player willing to serve as resource to all business partners.
Salary : $80,000 - $90,000
