What are the responsibilities and job description for the Case Manager for Homeless Families position at Ryhan's Center of Hope, Inc. (RCH)?
RCH is in need of a Case Manager to serve homeless families in Bay Shore.
Qualifications: Shall have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, common sense, and experience working in the shelter system/group homes/sober homes.
Case Managers work Monday-Friday 7am -4pm and are responsible for the overall care and management of each client in the homeless shelter. Must have the ability to read and write proficiently in the English language. Proper and professional documentation is vitally important.
Case Managers must establish relationships with local care providers in order to effectively serve the population. This includes school district liaisons, food pantries, relators, clothing closets, adult homes, nursing homes, AA providers, private donors, etc.
Case Managers are responsible for the management and development of the shelter staff through proper supervision, training, role modeling, and disciplinary action. Previous supervisory experience is a must.
Case Managers must be able to handle potentially dangerous situations with a rational and non-biased thought process. Candidates cannot be timid or fearful; having a thick skin and the compassion to serve is vitally important.
Case Managers provide 24-hour on-call support services on a rotating schedule (usually 13 times a year) for all shelter sites. Examples of on-call service: managing staff call-outs, covering open shifts, handling emergencies, providing guidance to the staff, and interacting with law enforcement.
Case Managers must be computer literate, and capable of using government technology programs. Candidates with DSS, SMS, SOAR, and HMIS experience preferred.

All candidates must be fingerprinted. A $75 fingerprinting fee (payable to Suffolk County Department of Social Services) is required. This fee is reimbursed once employed for 90 days
** 90-day probationary/training period- during this period, salary is $28 per hour.**Increased after 90 days based on experience* Suffolk County shelter experience given priority.
