We're looking for an experienced Lead Automotive Diagnostic Technician / Shop Foreman who wants more than just another job. We're searching for a hands-on leader who enjoys diagnosing complex vehicle issues, mentoring technicians, improving shop efficiency, and helping build one of Northern California's premier independent repair facilities.

What You'll Do
- Perform advanced drivability, electrical, and network diagnostics.
- Diagnose complex gasoline, diesel, hybrid, and electric vehicle systems.
- Perform advanced waveform analysis using an automotive oscilloscope.
- Diagnose CAN, LIN, and other network communication faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
- Troubleshoot intermittent electrical concerns, sensor performance, actuator operation, and module communication issues.
- Diagnose and repair failed California Smog Check vehicles.
- Perform advanced emissions diagnostics, including catalyst efficiency, EVAP systems, OBD-II readiness monitors, and engine performance concerns.
- Ensure emissions-related repairs comply with California BAR regulations and manufacturer repair procedures.
- Develop diagnostic game plans for difficult repairs and assist other technicians in reaching accurate diagnoses.
- Lead and mentor technicians throughout the shop.
- Assist with workflow management and repair prioritization.
- Verify repair quality before vehicles leave the shop.
- Work closely with service advisors to develop repair strategies and communicate technical findings.
- Help improve technician productivity and overall shop efficiency.
- Support our growing commercial fleet maintenance program.
- Complete thorough digital vehicle inspections and documentation.
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of professional automotive repair experience
- Expert-level diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Advanced electrical diagnostic experience
- Proficiency using an automotive oscilloscope for advanced diagnostics
- Ability to accurately diagnose complex drivability, network communication, and electrical system faults
- Strong understanding of engine performance systems
- Current California Smog Check Inspector and Repair Technician License (required)
- Ability to diagnose and repair failed Smog Check vehicles using advanced diagnostic procedures
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Positive, team-oriented attitude
- Ability to mentor and train technicians
- Ability to create diagnostic game plans and efficiently guide other technicians through complex repairs
- Clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- ASE Master Technician
- ASE L1 Advanced Engine Performance Certification
- Hybrid and EV diagnostic experience
- Diesel diagnostic and repair experience
- Previous Shop Foreman or Team Lead experience
