Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Underwriter to join our financial services team. Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments by collecting and analyzing financial data, including cash flow statements, balance sheets, income statements, and credit reports.
  • Evaluate loan applications, investment proposals, or insurance policies to determine their viability based on quantitative analysis and financial modeling techniques.
  • Perform detailed credit analysis to assess borrower or client creditworthiness, including reviewing credit scores, repayment history, and collateral valuation.
  • Utilize advanced financial software tools to facilitate data collection, financial analysis, and reporting processes efficiently.
  • Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines that align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Engage in negotiation with clients or brokers to clarify terms, conditions, or pricing strategies that mitigate risk while supporting business objectives.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports, summaries, and recommendations for senior management to inform decision-making processes.
  • Conduct risk analysis using quantitative research methods to forecast potential outcomes and identify emerging threats such as fraud or default risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including loan processing, portfolio management, and legal departments to ensure seamless underwriting workflows.
  • Stay informed about industry trends in banking, mortgage servicing, and financial services to enhance underwriting practices continually.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in underwriting within banking, mortgage servicing, or financial services environments.
  • Strong knowledge of financial concepts such as cash flow analysis, financial modeling, forecasting, and technical accounting principles.
  • Demonstrated expertise in credit analysis, risk assessment techniques, and quantitative research methods.
  • Proficiency with financial software platforms used for data collection, analysis, and reporting purposes.
  • Excellent negotiation skills combined with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively.
  • Solid understanding of loan origination processes, loan processing procedures, and portfolio management strategies.
  • Familiarity with fraud prevention and detection techniques within the context of lending or investment activities.
  • Knowledge of tax regulations relevant to finance operations is a plus.
  • Strong mathematical skills complemented by analytical thinking for quantitative analysis tasks.
  • Ability to interpret financial reports accurately while maintaining attention to detail under tight deadlines.
  • A background in banking or finance with relevant certifications or training is highly desirable.
