Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of licensed pharmacists, including IV infusions and aseptic techniques for sterile compounding.
- Assist with medication intake, verifying prescriptions against medical records and ensuring proper documentation.
- Support patient care by providing medication information, answering questions, and facilitating medication administration processes.
- Maintain precise inventory management for LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy supplies and hospital stock, ensuring proper storage and expiration tracking.
- Follow strict aseptic procedures during compounding and handling of sterile medications to prevent contamination.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals in acute care and critical care units to ensure timely medication delivery and patient safety.
- Document all medication transactions accurately, adhering to medical terminology standards and hospital protocols.
Qualifications
- Proven pharmacy technician experience with a strong understanding of medical terminology, medication preparation, and pharmacy operations.
- Experience working in LTC pharmacy, hospital environments, or critical care units is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of IV infusion techniques, aseptic technique, and medication administration procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent patient service with a focus on patient care and safety.
- Familiarity with medical records management, intake procedures, and pharmacy software systems.
- Certification as a pharmacy technician (e.g., PTCB or equivalent) is required; ongoing education in acute or hospital pharmacy is a plus.
