As an On-Call Infusion Center RN at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, you'll deliver expert oncology nursing care while providing the flexibility to support patients when they need it most. Working alongside a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you'll administer advanced infusion therapies, educate patients and families, and build meaningful relationships that make a lasting impact. As an On-Call Infusion Center Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

  • Providing comprehensive nursing assessments and developing individualized plans of care for patients receiving infusion and oncology treatments
  • Safely administering chemotherapy, biotherapy, blood products, IV medications, and supportive therapies in accordance with Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) standards and organizational policies
  • Initiating, accessing, maintaining, and monitoring central venous access devices, implanted ports, and peripheral IV lines while recognizing and responding to potential complications
  • Monitoring patients throughout treatment, identifying infusion reactions, hematologic and oncologic emergencies, and medication extravasation, and intervening promptly when needed
  • Educating patients and families on chemotherapy, symptom management, medications, treatment expectations, and discharge planning to promote confidence and continuity of care
  • Collaborating with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, social workers, nutritionists, and the interdisciplinary oncology team to coordinate exceptional patient care
  • Supporting patients and their loved ones through compassionate communication while addressing psychosocial concerns and coordinating referrals to supportive services when appropriate
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring compliance with medication reconciliation, blood administration, infection prevention, and patient safety standards
  • Assisting with charge nurse responsibilities as delegated, including coordinating workflow, supporting staffing needs, and prioritizing patient care based on acuity
  • Pursuing ongoing professional development through oncology-focused continuing education and specialty certification while contributing to a culture of clinical excellence

To be considered for this On-Call Infusion Center RN opportunity, you must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred or candidates should be actively pursuing their degree. Current American Heart Association BLS certification is required (or must be obtained within 90 days of hire), along with IV certification (or completion within 90 days of hire). Registered Nurses administering chemotherapy are required to obtain and maintain Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider certification and complete a minimum of 12 oncology-specific continuing education credits annually in accordance with Commission on Cancer (CoC) accreditation guidelines unless they hold an active Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification.
