Qualifications
Required:
- B.S. or advanced degree with major studies in Foods and Nutrition or Dietetics
- One (1) year clinical experience
- Registered Dietitian (RD) or A.D.A. membership with eligibility for registration
- Per Diem (PD)
- Identifies what the patient’s educational needs are
- Instructs patients / families on appropriate diet therapy
- Participates in the interdisciplinary patient teaching process
- Documents all pertinent information in the patient’s medical record
- Confers with physicians, nursing and case management as related to total patient care
- Follows standard practices and complies with regulatory requirements
- Helps plan and implement nutrition projects for the community through services such as speaking engagements and classes
- Performs assigned meal rounds and makes appropriate suggestions for correction of patient problems
- Reviews medical records, assesses patient needs, and implements appropriate nutritional care plan to provide optimal care
- Provides a compassionate and supportive environment with prompt and consistent service
- Conducts in-service sessions for hospital personnel
- Attends patient care conferences
