At RWJBarnabas Health, our Oncology Clinical Navigators help patients and families find clarity, connection, and support throughout the cancer care journey. As a Clinical Navigator (RN), you'll guide patients across the continuum of oncology care, from diagnosis and treatment through survivorship, while coordinating closely with physicians and the multidisciplinary care team. Serving as an advocate, educator, counselor, and clinical resource, you'll help patients understand their care, navigate available services, and remain connected to the right resources at the right time. This role offers an opportunity to combine oncology nursing expertise with meaningful patient relationships and care coordination that reaches across care delivery settings.

As an Oncology Clinical Navigator (RN), a typical day may include:

  • Navigating patients throughout the continuum of cancer care, from initial diagnosis and treatment through survivorship

  • Coordinating high-quality, comprehensive oncology care across care delivery sites in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team

  • Serving as a consistent point of contact for patients and caregivers throughout their cancer care journey

  • Acting as an advocate, interpreter, educator, and counselor to help oncology patients understand and navigate their care

  • Collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary partners to coordinate services in accordance with established clinical guidelines

  • Serving as a clinical resource for hematology and oncology care management

  • Connecting patients and caregivers with appropriate clinical services, resources, and members of the healthcare team

  • Serving as a liaison for referring physicians, patients, caregivers, facility partners, and community members regarding available oncology services

  • Providing expert nursing consultation and clinical guidance based on the individual needs of oncology patients

  • Supporting patient and caregiver education to strengthen understanding, engagement, and continuity throughout treatment and survivorship

  • Helping ensure adult patients with an oncology diagnosis receive comprehensive, coordinated services across the continuum of care

  • Contributing to oncology nursing practice through direct clinical care, consultation, education, care coordination, and research

This role might be for you if:

  • You are an experienced Registered Nurse with a strong clinical foundation in oncology services

  • You are passionate about helping patients and families navigate the complexities of cancer care with greater understanding and continuity

  • You enjoy building meaningful relationships with patients while remaining connected to their care across diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship

  • You can translate complex clinical information into clear, supportive education for patients and caregivers

  • You are comfortable serving as a central connection among patients, caregivers, referring physicians, and multidisciplinary care teams

  • You bring strong clinical judgment and can serve as a knowledgeable resource in hematology and oncology care management

  • You are skilled at coordinating care across different services, providers, and care delivery settings

  • Patient advocacy and ensuring access to comprehensive oncology services are important parts of your nursing practice

  • You communicate with empathy, professionalism, and clarity during emotionally and clinically complex situations

  • You thrive in a collaborative environment where nursing expertise, education, care coordination, consultation, and research work together to strengthen the patient experience

To be considered for this Clinical Navigator opportunity, you must be a Registered Nurse with professional experience in oncology services and the clinical knowledge necessary to support patients throughout the continuum of cancer care. The ideal candidate demonstrates expertise in oncology nursing, patient navigation, care coordination, patient and caregiver education, advocacy, multidisciplinary collaboration, and hematology/oncology care management. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential, along with the ability to serve as a trusted liaison among patients, caregivers, referring physicians, clinical teams, and community partners. Candidates should be comfortable providing expert nursing care through direct clinical practice, consultation, education, care coordination, and research while maintaining a patient-centered approach throughout diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.
