What You’ll Do:
People Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop the HR team
- Set team priorities, manage workloads, and foster a collaborative and high-performing HR function
- Serve as an escalation point for employee and manager inquiries for both internal employees and contractors
HR Operations & Technology
- Oversee HR technology platforms and tools in partnership with the HR & People Ops team member
- Ensure systems are properly maintained, updated, and leveraged to streamline HR processes
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within HR operations
Benefits Administration
- Manage the administration of employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, retirement, and ancillary plans
- Serve as primary point of contact for benefits vendors and brokers
- Lead annual open enrollment planning and communication
Talent Acquisition Support
- Partner with the TA Recruiter to support hiring efforts across the organization
- Collaborate with hiring managers to define role requirements and ensure a positive candidate experience
- Oversee offer letter creation and approval processes in alignment with compensation guidelines
Employee Relations & Conflict Resolution
- Manage employee relations matters with empathy, discretion, and a commitment to fairness
- Conduct or oversee workplace investigations as needed
- Advise managers and leadership on performance management, coaching, and disciplinary processes
Compliance, Policies & Employment Law
- Ensure company policies and practices are compliant with federal, Massachusetts state, and applicable local employment laws and regulations
- Maintain and update the employee handbook and HR policies on a regular basis
- Monitor regulatory changes and proactively communicate updates to leadership
- Manage documentation related to employment offers, changes, and terminations
Facilities Oversight
- Serve as the point of contact for office and facilities needs at the Wayburn location
- Coordinate with team to manage vendors, building management, and internal stakeholders to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming work environment
- Manage facilities-related budgets and vendor relationships
Team Structure
The HR & People Operations Manager will directly manage a two-person team:
- Talent Acquisition (TA) Recruiter – responsible for full-cycle recruiting and candidate experience
- HR & People Operations Specialist – responsible for HR administration, HRIS/technology systems support, and day-to-day support of people operations, including facilities and events.
Qualifications
Required
- 5 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in an HR & People Operations Manager or HR Lead capacity
- Demonstrated experience managing or mentoring HR team members
- Strong working knowledge of Massachusetts and federal employment law and HR compliance
- Experience administering employee benefits programs
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms and HR technology tools
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills
- High level of discretion and sound judgment when handling sensitive matters
Preferred
- Experience overseeing or supporting a recruiting/talent acquisition function
- Familiarity with facilities management or office operations responsibilities
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification
- Experience in a multi-entity or holding company environment
