Full-time Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Needed ** Bonus Incentives Offered Requirements: Must be U.S. Citizen or provide a Certificate of Naturalization. *

  • Degree: Master's degree in nursing.
  • Education: Graduate from an academic program, within the nursing specialty field of study that is accredited by a regional or national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Certification: Certified in the specialty as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the recognized national nursing certification organization for the specialty area of practice as appropriate (for example, National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses, American Nurses Association, National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Specialties), Basic LIfe Support, and additionally are required to have Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) at time of Credentialing.
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years experience and able to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific credentialing instructions. Able to demonstrate clinical competency within the past two years in the required clinical discipline.
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Shall possess sufficient initiative, interpersonal relationship skills and social sensitivity such that NP can relate constructively to a variety of patients from diverse backgrounds. Core Duties:
  • Provide a full range of medical services within the scope of Neonatal services to all patients and eligible beneficiaries.
  • Provide independent primary comprehensive and therapeutic health care services, to include examining, assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients in the Mother Baby Unit (MBU) and the Special Care Nursery (SCN).
  • Attend all deliveries in Labor and Delivery.
  • Perform a systematic physical examination and interpret abnormal and normal findings. Initiate emergency care as appropriate.
  • Order and interpret related laboratory and diagnostic tests. Discriminate between normal and abnormal findings in order to make a nursing diagnosis regarding physical, emotional, or social disabilities. Develop a problem list if indicated, implementing a therapeutic plan for each problem.
  • Prescribe medications approved by the Therapeutics Agent Board.
  • Admit newborns from clinics for phototherapy and provides outpatient care for weight and bilirubin checks as needed.
  • Order and/or perform pertinent diagnostic test; Analyze the data collected to determine health status; Formulate a problem list; develop and implement with the individual family, a plan of care to promote, maintain and restore health; Evaluate the patient’s response to healthcare provided and the effectiveness of the care with the individual and his/her family and modifies the plan and intervention as needed.
  • NNP is responsible for all labs and radiographs ordered.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals in meeting individual healthcare needs. Refer individuals and families to other healthcare professionals as appropriate. Record all pertinent data about the patient including history and physical examination, problems identified, interventions provided, results of care and plans for follow-up or referral. Coordinate the services required to meet individual and family needs for health care.
  • Use standard of care treatment Algorithms.
  • Perform within the scope of clinical privileges granted by the MTF.
  • Workload includes either scheduled or emergency requirements for care.
  • Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement and safety.
  • Responsible for the development of comprehensive treatment plans in accordance with protocols mutually established by the NP and physician supervisor. Also responsible for delivery of treatment within the personnel and equipment capabilities of the MTF, provision of mandated nursing surveillance and preventive services and the quality and timeliness of treatment records and reports required to document procedures performed and care provided.
  • May be trained to perform circumcisions if desired and once deemed proficient, clinical privileges will be obtained.
  • Maintain statistical records of his/her clinical workload, participate in provider and nursing education programs and clinical staff quality assurance functions as prescribed by the MTF Commanding Officer.
  • Prepare all records and reports as may be required in support of services rendered and as required by the MTF Standard Operating Procedures, Federal Law, or Army Regulation. NP shall be responsible for the content and correctness of all reports and shall verify the content and correctness of all reports by validating its contents the same day as the patient’s examination occurs.   • NP will work in clinic providing 24-hour coverage (Shifts are 7a - 7a).
