Estimating Manager
Location: Near Downtown Orlando, FL
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Estimating Manager to lead our Vertical Business Line’s estimating operations. This strategic leadership role oversees the full estimating lifecycle—owning the process from bid evaluation through handoff—to ensure accuracy, competitiveness, profitability, and alignment with organizational goals. Position Overview
The Estimating Manager serves as the Process Owner for all estimating activities within the Vertical Business Line. This individual will lead a high-performing team responsible for evaluating bid requests, determining bid opportunities, conducting bid review meetings, and ensuring all estimates and proposals are completed accurately and competitively.
This role also collaborates closely with senior leadership—including direct partnership with the Owner—to contribute to decision-making, improve internal processes, enhance cost modeling, reduce operational costs, and support companywide estimating consistency.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Process Ownership
- Serve as the primary Process Owner for all estimating-related workflows for the Vertical Business Line.
- Manage, mentor, and develop estimating staff—including hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and conducting regular performance reviews.
- Ensure the estimating team is proficient with all tools, software, and methodologies.
Bid & Estimating Management
- Review bid invitations and collaborate with senior management to determine bid/no-bid decisions based on established criteria.
- Prepare, maintain, and annually update Bid Review and Bid/No-Bid criteria.
- Maintain an accurate bid calendar and support management-level bid calendar reviews.
- Lead and review estimates before submission to ensure completeness, scope clarity, and that no scope gaps exist.
- Ensure all proposals include complete scope clarifications and accurately represent project requirements.
- Manage supplier and subcontractor communications throughout the estimating process.
- Support risk assessments throughout the bid and project-planning phases to ensure risk mitigation strategies are clearly communicated.
Contract & Project Integration
- Review incoming contracts and negotiate terms with prospective clients as needed.
- Oversee smooth project handoff to Project Management.
- Participate in project reviews and lessons-learned meetings to continuously improve estimating models and competitiveness.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
- Conduct win/loss analysis and integrate customer feedback into cost models, estimating assumptions, and internal processes.
- Work closely with operations leaders across Service, Special Projects, Tampa, MV/DOT/Civil, and other divisions to share best practices and standardize estimating processes.
- Assist senior management in reviewing internal procedures and developing cost-reduction strategies.
- Ensure project estimating schedules support positive cash flow.
- Collaborate with Safety to confirm safety and quality requirements are included in estimates.
- Maintain strong communication with Project Management and Field Supervision to support successful project execution.
- Uphold and promote all company policies and procedures.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma required
- 5 years of electrical field jobsite experience (preferred).
- 5 years of electrical estimating experience (required).
- Experience with estimating software such as B2W or Accubid, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
