- Data analysis: Using statistical and logical techniques to condense, analyze, and interpret data from operations to provide actionable insights.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Measurable metrics used to track performance in specific areas, such as:
- Energy consumption
- Asset reliability and uptime
- Maintenance costs
- Work order aging and response times.
- Preventive vs. reactive maintenance ratios
- User satisfaction surveys
- Continuous improvement: Treating performance analysis as an ongoing process to make data-driven decisions and continuously improve efficiency, safety, and functionality over time.
- Tools: Utilizing software like Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to centralize data and create real-time dashboards for monitoring and reporting. Submit and manage utilities applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Proficient with Desktop PC, Microsoft Office Suite, and energy software.
- Degreed Mechanical Engineer or equal field experience.
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) preferred.
- Certified Facility Manager (CFM)
- 2-3 or more years of experience in facilities management, operations, or data analysis is a common requirement.
- Some roles may specify experience with specific systems, like Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), or with maintenance operations and procurement practices.
- For senior roles, experience in developing and implementing performance analysis programs may be required.
- Analytical skills: Strong ability to collect, analyze, and interpret complex data to draw actionable insights.
- Technical knowledge: Understanding of building systems such as HVAC, lighting, and automation technologies is often required.
- Data visualization: Ability to create clear and effective visual representations of data.
- Project management: Experience managing projects and working with cross-functional teams.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting findings and collaborating with various departments.
- Software proficiency: Familiarity with relevant software tools for data analysis, energy modeling, and facilities management systems.
