About the Role
Rutter Networking Technologies is seeking a Microsoft 365 Cloud Operations Engineer to manage, secure, and optimize Microsoft 365 environments across our client base. This role is both hands-on and strategic—supporting day-to-day operations, driving automation, and improving collaboration and security across multiple tenants.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Microsoft 365 services: Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Entra ID/Azure AD, Intune, Defender for O365.
- Configure and manage Azure networking components (VNets, VPN Gateways, ExpressRoute, NSGs, Firewalls).
- Administer identity, security, DLP, retention, conditional access, MFA, and compliance policies.
- Respond to and resolve incidents, conduct root-cause analysis, and maintain SLA performance.
- Automate provisioning, reporting, and lifecycle management using PowerShell and Microsoft Graph.
- Support migrations (Exchange → M365, hybrid → cloud, tenant consolidation).
- Collaborate with help-desk, security, and service delivery teams; create documentation and SOPs.
- Monitor service health and recommend improvements to governance, security, and usability.
- Stay current with the Microsoft 365 roadmap; guide best practices for clients.
- Optimize spending on consumption-based environments like Microsoft azure
Required Experience
- 5–8 years of experience with at least 5 years administering Microsoft 365 environments.
- Strong expertise in Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Entra ID, and Intune.
- Proficient with PowerShell automation and Microsoft Graph API.
- Deep knowledge of identity, authentication, RBAC, conditional access, MFA, and cloud security.
- Hands-on experience with DLP, retention, auditing, encryption, and Defender for O365.
- Experience in incident troubleshooting, service operations, and multi-tenant support.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred
- Microsoft certifications (Enterprise Admin Expert, Security Administrator, Teams/Modern Desktop).
- Previous MSP or consulting experience.
- Experience supporting compliance-driven environments (CMMC, NIST, HIPAA, ISO).
- Experience with Microsoft Purview, data classification, and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and AI-driven data management.
- Azure automation or Infrastructure-as-Code familiarity.
