Rutland Town School is seeking a long-term substitute for 5th-grade Math and Science, August 27, 2026, through December 10, 2026
The successful candidate will possess the following attributes;
Instructional Excellence & Curriculum
Standards-Based Instruction: Deep understanding of the Common Core State Standards (Math), including Bridges and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
Proficiency-Based Learning: Experience integrating Vermont Proficiencies into daily instruction and long-term planning.
Evidence-Based Practices: Knowledge of elementary research-based best practices, including an understanding of the Science of Reading and how it supports content-area literacy.
Assessment Literacy: Proficiency in using formative and summative assessments to analyze student data and pivot instruction to meet learner needs.
Student Support & Classroom Environment
Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS): Experience implementing layered instructional practices, including robust data collection and progress monitoring.
Small Group Instruction: Demonstrated ability to lead differentiated small-group instruction to provide targeted intervention and enrichment.
Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): Commitment to supporting student regulation through restorative, proactive, and trauma-informed approaches.
Effective Management: Proven success in implementing classroom management protocols that foster a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
Professionalism & Community

Family Engagement: Evidence of building strong, collaborative relationships with students and their families.
Licensure: Must hold (or be eligible for) a valid Vermont Educator License with the appropriate endorsement for elementary education.

Salary Range: $45,690-$93,665.(Prorated per number of work days)
