Your Impact
Rutherford County Government seeks a Medicolegal Death Investigator (MDI) to support Government medicolegal investigations under Tennessee Code Annotated §38-7-108. This position helps determine cause and manner of death, confirm identity, and safeguard facts and evidence for the community.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting thorough medicolegal death investigations and coordinating scene/record information
- Serving as a point of contact with EMS, law enforcement, the Medical Examiner, county partners, and families
- Collecting, documenting, and preserving evidence using accepted Forensics practices
- Completing clear, timely reports and updating the case management system; using Microsoft Office
- Communicating findings effectively in writing and verbally
Required qualifications/skills:
- Bachelor’s in Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, or related field
- AEMT/Paramedic (EMT-P), RN/PA, or ABMDI certification (or eligible within one year)
- Valid TN driver’s license
