Any area of public safety: fire, law, medical, emergency management, firefighter, EMT, paramedic, law enforcement officer, protective services, military experience previous teaching experience in this content area.
(Volunteer service is acceptable for fire and EMT.)
Years of Work Experience
2 years with a Bachelor’s, 4 years with an Associate, 6 years with a High School Diploma.
Credentials Prior to Hire/Teaching
ANY of the following:
NC Department of Public Safety in C.E.R.T. prior to teaching- NC Office of State Fire Marshal Qualified Firefighter Instructor prior to teaching
- NC Office of Emergency Medical Services EMT Instructor prior to teaching
- International Foundation for Protective Officers (IFPO) certification within the first year of teaching
- Law Enforcement certification (current or lapsed) from a state or federal law enforcement entity
