Duties
- Pick up patient specimens, laboratory samples, and related documentation from physician offices, clinics, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities.
- Transport specimens safely and securely to the laboratory while maintaining specimen integrity and following all applicable handling and transportation requirements.
- Follow assigned pickup and delivery routes to ensure timely and efficient specimen collection and delivery.
- Verify specimen information, requisitions, and chain-of-custody documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain accurate records of pickups, deliveries, mileage, and route activity using company logs or electronic tracking systems.
- Communicate professionally with clinic staff, laboratory personnel, and healthcare providers regarding pickup schedules, specimen issues, and delivery confirmations.
- Adhere to all company policies, HIPAA requirements, OSHA regulations, and applicable transportation guidelines related to medical specimens.
- Ensure specimens are packaged, stored, and transported according to laboratory protocols and temperature requirements.
Skills
- Proven experience in delivery driving, courier services, or warehouse operations
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients and team members
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating box trucks or similar vehicles preferred
- Knowledge of route driving strategies to optimize efficiency and punctuality
- Ability to handle manual transmission vehicles confidently when required
