Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | The successful candidate should be a nationally respected individual with experience in the leadership and management of a complex, hospital-based service in an academic teaching and research environment. Outstanding leadership qualities and an excellent understanding of the business of Radiology are expected. Previous involvement with multi-disciplinary research and clinical programs is particularly desirable. Experience in leading academic and/or research units, major committees and programs in faculty development are essential. |

Overview | The department's faculty possess broad expertise in both basic and clinical sciences and its clinical activities include all facets of diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology. Teaching responsibilities of the department are in both New Jersey Medical School and the School of Graduate Studies. The Diagnostic Radiology Program at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School is an ACGME approved categorical training program. The program currently has 18 residents, with rotations at University Hospital and East Orange VA. New Jersey Medical School, located in the city of Newark, is also home to Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, School of Health Professions, School of Graduate Studies, and a portion of the School of Public Health. The campus also incorporates University Hospital, a 519-bed facility with a Level I Trauma Center, widely respected tertiary cancer care, stroke, cardiology programs, nationally renowned Centers in Neurological Surgery, Otolaryngology and Orthopedics, and a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The regional resource for advanced tertiary and quaternary care in many disciplines, University Hospital is positioned to become the major referral center for the surrounding regions and the State. |
